Stack Info

Overview

So you have a webpage that is quite long from top to bottom, and want to offer the user a way to effortlessly get back to the top at any time. Bell Boy is always on hand to do just that.

Bell boy can optionally entertain your visitor during the journey back to the page top. The music and arrival bell are both controlled by a single on off setting.

The Bell boy has many different presentation styles built in to choose from (check out the settings section below for all the options).

Settings

In this section, we have provided a comprehensive list of available settings, and a full description of what each of the settings does for the stack.

Responsive

The responsive section is built into every stack, but we note it here, because even though Bell Boy can be displayed outside of it's container (the bottom right of the screen), he will still respect these settings.

Button style

6 different up icon styles to choose from from the Font Awesome set.

Location

Here you can choose to either display the bell boy exactly where you place him, or in the bottom right hand corner of the window. He will appear when at least 1/4 of the total page length has been scrolled.

Button size

Adjust the overall size of the button. Icons within the button are scaled to suit.

Colours

Two colour pickers for the button background and icon colours. They support opacity, and display an opacity slider in the colour picker when opened.

Travel time

This is the time it takes to scroll the user back to the top of your page in seconds.

Music

Here you can choose to entertain you user with elevator music on the journey back to the top.

Play arrival bell

Choose to play or not to play an arrival bell when the elevator comes to rest at the top of the page.

Use my own custom elevator music

Choosing this option gives you another option to add a link to your own mp3 music file to be played on the journey up to the top.

Z-Index

This adjusts the stacking order of the button when floated in the bottom right corner of the window. With some pages, you may want to raise or lower this number to have the button displayed on top of, or behind some other element on your page. Normally, you can just leave this as is.

Edit Mode

We pay great attention to how we approach the editing interface of every stack, to ensure intuitive ease of use.

Live Demo

First we need to get to the bottom of the page.

Stacks Image 689

Because you're to close to the top.

Stacks Image 695

So the Bell Boy button wouldn't make sense.

Stacks Image 701

Down down down.

Stacks Image 707

Wow, all this scrolling.

Stacks Image 713

This had better be worth it.

Stacks Image 719

It's going to take ages to get back to the top.

Stacks Image 725

If only we had an easy way to get back...

Stacks Image 731

...that is both functional and fun.

Stacks Image 737

I call "back to top" buttons elevators...

Stacks Image 743

...they should really behave more like them.

Stacks Image 749

OK here we go…

You can now see the Bell Boy in the bottom right hand corner of your screen. Give him a click to call him!

Quick Fact

You don't have to have music. This will make more sense to you in a moment or two.
